While you are staying with us you might wish to visit some of the more interesting attractions in our part of the world. There is a lot to see and do around here and we are sure that you already have a long list of places that you want to go, but here is a quick list with a few reminders:

Adventure Rents

Adventure Rents canoe and kayak livery is a full service river outfitting company offering delightful boating experiences on the Gualala River to people of all levels of ability. 707 884-4386

Arena Theater

The Arena Theater is an old-fashioned "movie palace" in Point Arena that shows first run movies and, classic films as well as hosting numerous special events. 707 882-3272

Annapolis Winery

The Annapolis Winery is located in the hills behind The Sea Ranch and has been making hand crafted wines since 1987. During the season the winery is open for tastings. Call for hours. 707 886-5460

Artists & Art Galleries in the Sea Ranch Area

The Sea Ranch itself has a large number of working artists in a wide variety of media and there are even more in the neighboring communities up and down the coast. Art galleries are concentrated in Gualala but there are a couple of others in Point Arena and Elk.

B Bryan Preserve

B Bryan Preserve located on Eureka Hill Road in Point Arena is actively breeding and preserving African hoof stock. They have an extensive collection of zebras and antelope. Tours are by appointment only. 707 882-2297.

Bird Watching

All along the coast there are excellent opportunities to watch a wide variety of birds. Some of the very bewst is right in The Sea Ranch, but several parks are also excellent locations.

Bowling Ball Beach

Bowling Ball Beach is located north of Anchor Bay. At low tide there is an unusual rock formation that attracts visitors from all over the world. The beach itself is a wonderful place for a hike, but be sure to check the tide tables first.

Fort Ross State Historic Park

Fort Ross is one of the premier historical parks in the California State system. It is an accurate reconstruction of the Russian fort that marked the furthest penetration south into what was, in the nineteenth century, considered to be Spanish America.

Greenwood State Beach

Also known as Elk Beach, this beautiful strand of sand can be reached from a parking area in the very center of the town of Elk. It is usually a good place to find driftwood.

Gualala Point Regional Park

This park is located at the mouth of the Gualala River and can be reached easily from The Sea Ranch. (see map). A good spot to go kayaking or bird watching.

Manchester State Park

Manchester State Beach is located just north of the small town of Manchester. It is one of the longer beaches in this area and an outstanding place for a classic beach hike - a five mile long beach hike.

Point Arena Lighthouse

The Point Arena Lighthouse is a reminder of the Age of Sail. Located just north of town, it was part of a system of navigation aides that encircled the entire country. It is open to the public. 707 882-2777

Point Arena Wharf

The Point Arena wharf marks one of the very earliest European settlements along this part of the California coast. It serviced the famous "dog hole" schooners and today is an important center for the Point Arena community.

Salt Point State Park

Salt Point State Park is one of the major coastal parks in this part of California. There are some good hiking trails in a variety of different terrain and a good place to find a rather wide variety of wild animals and birds.

Sea Ranch Golf Links

The Sea Ranch Golf Links was designed by Robert Muir Graves and is considered to be one of the premier public golf courses in the entire country. Eighteen hole championship course. 707 785-2468

Stillwater Cove Regional Park

A small park located just south of Ocean Cove, Stillwater is a great place for a picnic meal, a short hike and some first class wave watching. It is also a good place for birders interested in sea birds.

Stornetta Public Lands

Newly opened public lands surrounding the Point Arena Lighthouse. Stornetta is a good place for a coastal hike, a picnic lunch and some good birding.

Wildlife Viewing

There is a wide variety of wild life in this part of the California coast and it is easily accesible in a number of locations. One of the best is in The Sea Ranch, but several local parks are excellent locations as well.

Most of these destinations are located on or close to the coastal highway - Highway One. Some of them might easily be included in your trip to or from The Sea Ranch. Others might make a good excuse for a drive up or down the coast. Still others could be added to your next visit with us. A number of our guests take a day and drive up the coast to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Others explore inland to Boonville and the Anderson Valley Wine Country.
