Leonids was designed by renowned architect Joseph Esherick and is one of the famous Hedgerow Houses that were among the first structures built here in The Sea Ranch. This home, originally known as Hedgerow Home #1, was meant to be a demonstration of The Sea Ranch concepts of living lightly on the land and blending into the natural world surrounding it. It is mentioned in numerous architectural books and articles and is considered by many to be an important starting point in the development of the world famous Sea Ranch architectural style.

Paintining of Leonids houseTucked into an ancient cypress hedgerow a stone's throw from the very edge of the North American continent, Leonids is a delightful hideaway for one or several couples or a small family. A master bedroom, two loft bedrooms and two baths will accommodate a total of six people. Children twelve years of age and older are welcome. Certain breeds of dog are permitted. Forced air heat ensures comfort throughout the home, and there is a classic wood stove in the living area to add a touch of color and a quick source of warmth on a chilly morning. Television is available in the living area and free internet is available throughout the home. A very efficient kitchen is conveniently situated adjacent to the dining area and the outdoor patio. A charcoal BBQ is located in the enclosed patio. A washer and dryer is in the garage.

The Sea Ranch rigorously protects against night sky light pollution and is therefore a fabulous place to watch the drama of the night sky. The name of this home, Leonids, is a reflection of that fact. The outdoor deck and patio are both excellent places to spend part of your evening star gazing and dreaming. Who knows, you might even be lucky enough to witness a meteor shower. If you decide to eat out, the Black Point Grill in the Sea Ranch Lodge is just a short drive or walk away, but you had best make reservations. (If you walk over in the evening, be sure to take a flashlight even if it is light when you leave the house.) One of our three Recreation Centers is also close by and, of course, the extensive Sea Ranch trail system is yours for as much of a hike or stroll as you might wish. Expect to see wildlife while you are out and about anywhere on the ranch and maybe even while enjoying the view from Leonids. The front door is etched with a Great Blue Heron that frequents the meadow in front of the home and the garage door is etched with a wild flower like those that you will find all around the home.
